Our immigration system perpetuates a class structure in which lower-wage workers lack full rights. Hundreds of thousands of individuals live and work in the U.S. under statuses such as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and Humanitarian Parole—none of which provides a pathway to permanent residency. Despite sometimes decades of contributing to the economy, these workers remain vulnerable, unable to vote, and ineligible for many legal protections. Now, the current administration is threatening to terminate these already fragile statuses, leaving families in fear and employers struggling to fill essential roles. Pathway for Immigrant Workers provides pro bono legal assistance to lower-wage and nonprofit workers and their employers so the workers have an avenue to lawful permanent residency.
